MSSN LASU Epe unveils maiden edition of annual publication – The Guide

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State University, Epe Campus, has today launched the maiden edition of its annual publication – “The Guide”, with the theme: “Living above the bottom line”

 

According to the description of the publication, it serves as a springboard for school leavers, recent graduates, and undergraduates from states all over the nation who are looking for motivation, exploring opportunities, and creative advice from people who have stories to share about how to improve in their faith, careers, academics, and social lives.

 

On Monday, the virtual launch event was organized using the well-known video conferencing tool Zoom. Distinguished individuals from all over the world attended, including Amb. (Dr) Sowemimo Abiodun, CEO of InfoMetriQ Data Network and CapitalMetriQ Bank, Dr. Muyideen Muhammad, founder of MyCareHut and a medical practitioner in Canada, Dr. Balqees Banire, post-doctoral researcher at the Hamad bn Khalifa University in Qatar, and Engr. Adewale Jawando, President, Lagos State University Muslim Engineering Graduates’ Association (LASUMEGA), and managing director, Acumen Development Limited, amongst others.

 

Participants from higher institutions from all over Lagos State were also present, listening as the invited speakers provided sound advise on how to Live Above The Bottom Line in line with the magazine’s theme.

 

The first edition of “The Guide,” which was released for the 2020–21 academic session, was specifically given the theme in the hopes of aiding readers who are trying to clarify what exactly their bottom line is, how to improve on choices or goals they set for themselves, aid them in finding inspiration from a few people through helpful career tips, importance of knowledge, and exposure on how they could secure existing career and academic opportunities globally.

 

This edition of the publication featured authors from a select group of prestigious institutions both inside and outside of Lagos, as well as reputable figures like Dr. Babajide Milton Macaulay, CEO of iLLUMANIA and Wadi Africa, who provided advice on obtaining international scholarships; Barakat Oyerinde, a product designer based in Dubai who discussed her transition into the tech industry; Raheemat Rafiu, founder of the Graduate School Hub, who discussed the various scholarship opportunities available worldwide and and how to get started.

 

In his remarks, the society’s Amir expressed appreciation for the visitors and said that “The Guide” is the organization’s most eagerly awaited annual publication.

 

Speaking at the virtual launch, the immediate past Amir, under whose leadership the magazine was developed, revealed that the publication is open to anyone who wants to learn from a wide range of amazing and highly regarded individuals who have shared valuable messages on how to become better at what they do.

 

The magazine’s editor revealed that the authors concentrated on defining what it means to live above the bottom line in the editorial preface with the theme: “Living Above the Bottom Line.”

“The magazine talks a lot on topics that directly translate to our everyday life from struggling to get good grades as a student to achieving the right amount of spirituality to please ALLAH, and progressing further in our careers. For anyone that reads this in its entirety, you will become so different from the person you were before embarking on this journey. You will also be able to say you have been guided towards living above the bottom line,” he was quoted to have said.
